Position Description
 
Reporting to the Branch Manager and working directly with all employees, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance on all health and safety related activities at the Corunna Facility. Frequent customer interaction and engagement on site is required.  
 
This is a hands-on role with a primary focus on regulatory and risk management, monitoring and measurement of safety performance, reporting and investigating incidents, understanding and managing both internal and various customer specific programs, managing and leading employee training requirements, and proactively driving a culture of safety accountability throughout the organization.
 
Key Accountabilities
 
  • Drive health and safety accountability through all levels of the organization
  • Work closely with the Branch Manager, Facility Supervisors and Operators to deliver, maintain and improve site specific safety programs
  • Monitor safety performance and compliance against established safety procedures and regulations
  • Ensure hazards and risks are identified and appropriate and timely measures are taken to control risks. Monitor and follow up on identified hazards 
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations, assist Managers and Supervisors with root cause analysis, recommend corrective actions and assist Managers and Supervisors with implementation
  • Monitor and follow up on corrective actions and conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure equipment, materials and processes do not create additional hazards
  • Lead monthly safety meetings with employees   
  • Coordinate, develop and/or deliver safety training to ensure training is current and meets regulatory requirements including managing the training tracker to ensure ongoing compliance.    
  • Ensure each facility has a comprehensive understanding of operating permit conditions and the regulatory framework; assist with facility applications and amendments in order to secure permits or approvals for projects and initiatives
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure ongoing health and safety compliance, including but not limited to Human Resources, Operators, 3rd Parties, Customers and Suppliers
 
Experience, Qualifications & Education
 
  • Degree or diploma in a technical, engineering or chemical related field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role within an environmental, chemical, petro-chemical, heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CSRP) would be a definite asset
  • Prior experience in Sarnia’s Chemical Valley is an asset
  • Must have the ability to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to improve systems, policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and manage competing priorities 
  • Must be able to work independently to support a defined client group and be able to work as team to support company level initiatives.
 
Working Conditions
 
  • This is a safety sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required medical, physical, drug and alcohol testing
  • Vehicle travel is required to be able to provide in-person support to various facilities within the Sarnia area

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be primarily responsible for industrial cleaning at various industrial sites throughout Ontario.

Emergency Response Team Leader

Reporting to the Supervisor of Emergency Services, the Emergency Response Operator will be responsible for responding to emergency service calls as they relate to hazardous material. 

BRP Operator

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the BRP Operator is responsible for transporting raw materials and recyclable materials throughout the plant.

Chemical Technician

As a Chemical Technician, your primary role is to sort and repack chemical hazardous waste within the facility.

Industrial Cleaning Operator

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be primarily responsible for industrial cleaning at various industrial locations throughout New Scotia.

AZ Transport Driver/Operator

Responsibilities include: Packing/bulking, loading, securing and transporting various waste streams throughout Ontario. 

Customer Service Representative (Co-op)

Reporting to the Sales Support Manager, the Customer Service Representative will be the initial point of contact for prospective and inactive customers to small automotive and manufacturing customers.
