Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician reports to the Quality Manager and provides support and direction to all departments and the supply base in the area of quality assurance.
 
Location: Ingersoll, Ontario
Reports To: Quality Manager
Experience/Proficiency: 1-3 years’ of related experience
Education: Post-secondary education in a related field, Quality Assurance Certification (CQE/QCT)
Hours: 40
 
Skill/Effort Requirements:
• Computer Literacy – Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001.
• SPC Knowledge and interpretation.
• Knowledge in gauge selection / functionality.
• Knowledge of PPAP/Advanced Project Planning.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
• CMM experience.
• Knowledge and usage of inspection equipment.
• Knowledge / experience in weld inspection.
• Ability to make effective decisions.
• Leadership, organizational and skills.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Experience in problem solving techniques, Quality Systems, APQP, Statistical Methods, Control Plans and PPAP’s.
• Able to work independently.
• Frequent involuntary interruptions.
• Close attention to details.
• Able to meet deadlines.
• Working with others at all levels within the Company and outside vendors (suppliers).
 
Responsibilities:
• Perform supplier source inspection activities
• Train Inspectors to perform in-process and final inspections internally and at supplier locations. Participate in operator and Quality Inspector training.
• Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of product, process or quality system non-conformance.
• Identify and record problems relating to the product, process or quality system.
• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
• Verify the implementation of solutions.
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
• Support and participate in APQP activities and trials (such as packaging trials, paint/process trials, etc.) as required.
• Responsible for communicating IMT requirements and standards to suppliers.
• Review supplier rejections. Initiate, coordinate, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions and recommend course of action.
• Represent the “Voice of IMT” in supplier part quality issues.
• Assist in preparing PPAP submissions on assigned programs.
• Coordinate and participate in dimensional evaluation of parts using appropriate gauges and fixtures including SPC studies. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated prior to use. Promptly report any items that are found to be out of calibration and coordinate corrective actions.
• Coordinate and participate in Gauge Accuracy, Repeatability and Reproducibility Studies.
• Perform process capability and process performance studies and data collection. Report results on the appropriate statistical charts.
• Participate as required in cross functional team activities.
• Carryout other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.
 
Working Conditions:
• Frequent travel required.
• Exposure to chemical, welding sparks and flash.
• Exposure to dirt and noise in a manufacturing plant.
