Natural Gas: A Cost Effective Fuel

Natural gas is far more economical than diesel and other transportation fuels, with fuel cost savings of 30-40% on average. While the price of petroleum continually increases, the supply of low-priced natural gas continues to grow.

The cost gap between these two fuels is only expected to grow. The savings on natural gas increase with higher fuel consumption including high annual mileage and heavy loading. Higher fuel price differentials to diesel (such as gasoline) make natural gas an even more attractive option.

The area of highest savings over time is likely to be on natural gas. Incremental engine costs will be reduced as sales volumes of natural gas increase and fuel prices decline as volumes grow for vehicular use. Couple that with the increasing cost of diesel engines with post-manufacturer add-ons (which will be a necessity for diesel engines to meet increasing emissions regulations), and it’s easy to see that natural gas is an obvious choice for virtually any industry.
