POSITION SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Director Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor will fully contribute as one of two internal audit professionals, to a program of risk-based internal auditing at operational sites and corporate offices internationally. Conducting and assessing the company’s internal controls to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently, the position requires a proven understanding and eye for accurate financial reporting methods to assess compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines to the highest standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and executing a risk-based audit plan focused on key financial, operational, capital development projects and compliance activities (Dodd-Frank, Conflict Free Gold Standard, and CSR Report Audits) on time and within budget;
• Prepare risk-based audit programs, coordinating and conducting audit testing, documenting and presenting audit findings to management teams including making business recommendations to mitigate risk;
• Plan and scope process for SOX compliance – analyzing and identifying risk areas (locations, operational processes and by financial statement line item) to assess the suitability of existing controls and liaise with external auditors;
• Manage projects to completion; communicate effectively with all management teams, and benchmark functional and industry specific audit best practices and trends;
• Act as a critical part of cross-functional project teams that are aimed at improving business processes including audits for procurement, supply chain and capital projects;
• Able to travel to international sites and corporate offices: travel estimate 20-25% per year.
EDUCATION
Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting along with the completion a professional designation (CA, CIA, CMA, CGA);
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3 years’ of progressive audit experience;
• Excellent understanding of financial statements, auditing processes, accounting principles, standards, techniques and procedures;
• Detailed knowledge with the ability to identify the key internal control points in a system or process a must. The ability to adapt to change and work in a fast paced environment is essential to this position;
• The successful incumbent will have strong analytical, written and verbal skills, with a proven track record of work effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization;
• Able to work on assigned projects independently and/or in a team;
• Spoken and written Spanish language skills would be an asset.
