Rigid rail systems, also referred to as monorail systems, offer a good alternative to cable-based horizontal lifeline systems. They are more forgiving for both loading and deflection. When clearance is not adequate, rigid systems are your best choice.
When dealing with open-web-steel-joists (OWSJs), rigid systems are often the only viable option. As is the case with cable systems, a rigid rail system must also be in accordance with the requirements of CSA Z259.16.
